On-site blast cleaning

Whether timber, masonry or metal, our on-site blast cleaning systems can remove paint or varnish, prepare surfaces for recoating or simply restore the natural finish of the material.

Our sophisticated blast-cleaning systems include open blasting, wet blasting, chemical cleaning, paint stripping, pressure washing and steam cleaning, and are effective for the removal of all sorts of unsightly coatings and varnishes on a variety of surfaces. We also offer delicate low-pressure surface preparation using specially-designed equipment.

We can do all the masking up and clearing up afterwards or we can just do the blasting – it’s up to you.

Finished Beams 1Timber

We can remove thick paint or varnish from timber to create a beautiful natural look. Examples might include:

  • Old painted beams
  • New green oak beams and structures
  • Panelling
  • Wooden floors – sanding and sealing

BAbingdon House 2rick and masonry

We clear stains, dirt and grime from brickwork and masonry, including internal brick surfaces, external masonry and York stone floors.

We can also waterproof cleaned surfaces using an invisible WD Siloxane Repellent which will keep the surface dry, reducing heat loss and allowing the masonry to breath naturally.

We offer blast-cleaning preparation of all types of structural steelwork, architectural metalwork and structures too large to transport to our works such as tanks, oil rig platforms, bridges, transporters and ships.

Using our specialist equipment in conjunction with a range of expendable abrasives we can prepare metal surfaces up to a Swedish Standard Sa.3 finish, or if required we can apply any specified anti-corrosion paint finish by airless or conventional spray.

We also carry out on-site zinc/alloy thermo-spraying – a hot metal spray galvanizing system which offers a better-keyed surface for paint adhesion and less stress to the structure than traditional dip galvanizing. This system, when over-coated with the appropriate paint system, can last over 20 years in a harsh environment.

Surfaces we can clean and prepare include:

  • Cast iron fireplaces
  • Radiators
  • Gates, railings and fire escapes
  • Boats
  • Structural steelwork
  • Architectural metalwork
  • Metal structures such as tanks and oil rigs
